Accessibility

It matters to me that this website is open to as many people as possible, regardless of ability, assistive technology or input device. This statement is voluntary: as a personal portfolio site I'm not subject to the legal requirements for public bodies, and I don't offer a service in electronic commerce. Still, I want to be transparent about what I aim for and where things fall short.

Target standard

I follow the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at level AA. I can't guarantee full conformance, but I work on removing barriers on an ongoing basis.

What's already in place

A visible keyboard focus indicator and full keyboard operability. A clear heading structure and landmarks for screen readers. Labelled form fields and buttons. Sufficient colour contrast for body text. Respect for the system setting “reduce motion". Dialogs keep the keyboard focus and return it after closing. Foreign-language terms are marked up so screen readers pronounce them correctly.

Known limitations

In a few places where text sits over images, the minimum contrast isn't guaranteed across every part of the image. Some content is also animated via scripts; without JavaScript the content is still available, but some convenience features are not. I'm working on these points.

Report a barrier

Did you run into a barrier, or do you need content in a more accessible form? Please write to me and I'll take care of it: contact@jessicafraas.com.
